When They Cheer Your Fall, Rise Even Higher
By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar
Have you ever felt the sting of knowing someone secretly rejoices in your pain? It’s a sobering realization, recognizing there are people who would rather see you stumble than soar. They offer smiles that feel warm but carry the chill of hidden motives. Their words, dripping with false sweetness, mask an eagerness to see your downfall. These people thrive on the shadows of your struggles, standing ready to celebrate when they think you’ve finally lost your footing. But here’s the truth they seem to forget: the Creator never abandons those who walk in faith and integrity.
There are those who aren’t merely spectators but active participants in your trials. They may whisper behind your back while feigning concern to your face. Their joy at your stumble isn’t about you it’s about them. Their hearts, heavy with envy and fear, find relief in your perceived failure because it distracts them from their own inadequacies. They’re not rooted in love or kindness; they’re caught in a web of their own insecurities.
I know a person who faced this. They were someone who always gave freely, supporting others without a second thought. But life’s trials came, as they often do, and things got tough really tough. When this person could no longer give as they once did, those who had eagerly taken from them disappeared. Some even began to spread whispers, reveling in the hardships they faced. The betrayal wasn’t just in their absence; it was in the quiet glee that accompanied it. But this person didn’t respond with bitterness. They turned inward, seeking strength from the Creator, finding solace in prayer and reflection. Slowly, they rebuilt, not to prove anything to the ones who had wronged them, but because grace lifted them higher.
This is the heart of the matter: when you stumble, some will cheer not because you’ve fallen, but because it distracts from their own shortcomings. Their joy is fleeting, but your rise is eternal. When you fall, the Creator is there, steadying you, lifting you, and preparing you for something greater. Like gold refined by fire, the heat of betrayal and mockery only purifies and strengthens you.
It’s tempting, in the face of such betrayal, to retaliate. To let anger or bitterness consume you. But don’t let their actions define your response. Pray for them not because they deserve it, but because your spirit deserves peace. When you place your pain in the Creator’s hands, you free yourself from the chains of resentment. The Creator sees everything the whispers, the laughter, the hidden motives and in time, every wrong will be made right.
When you rise again, and you will, don’t waste energy looking back. Those who mocked your fall will still be watching, baffled by your resilience. They will wonder how you managed to climb so high after what they thought would destroy you. That’s the power of grace. It’s not about proving them wrong; it’s about walking in the purpose the Creator has set for you.
So, the next time someone’s laughter echoes in the shadows of your stumble, let it remind you of your potential. Their cheers are not a testament to your failure but to the fear of your light. And when you rise and rise you will your journey will stand as a testament to the unshakable hand of the Creator. Let them cheer if they must; it only means they see what you may not yet realize: your rise is inevitable.
