WHEN THE CREATOR IS ABOUT TO GIVE YOU SOMETHING BIG
by Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar
When the Creator is gearing up to hand you something major, something life-shifting, it almost never unfolds how you pictured it. Forget the neatly drawn maps or picture-perfect timing we’re talking about twists, turns, and a path that feels more like a wilderness trek than a red carpet rollout. Greatness doesn’t just arrive; it gets built in the furnace of discomfort, uncertainty, and spiritual renovation.
Let me be real with you: when the Creator is about to elevate you, He doesn’t drop the blessing in your lap wrapped with a bow. Nah, He begins to shape you into the kind of person who can carry that blessing with grace. And that shaping? It’s not a spa day it’s a whole spiritual boot camp. You’ll feel stretched, worn out, even confused. The things that used to comfort you might start slipping away. Old habits crack. Some relationships? They’ll shift or vanish altogether. It might feel like your world’s going sideways, but trust me that’s not chaos, that’s construction.
And here's the part we often miss: most times, we get so impatient that we start chopping up things and folks we were never meant to cut loose. We’re not the master gardener, but we grab the shears anyway like we know what we’re doing. I’ve done it pruned things out of my life that I later had to run back crying to the Creator for help restoring. Don’t be like me in those moments. My advice? Seek help through patience and prayer. My Grandmother Celestine used to tell me, “Child, just because it’s growing funny now don’t mean it ain’t meant to bloom. Let the Lord do His trimming.” And Lord, was she right. I’ve hacked away at some beautiful trees in my life because I just couldn’t wait another minute.
Look, I know it’s hard. I know some of you are reading this thinking, "Kateb, you don’t know what I’ve been through." You're right I don’t know every twist in your story, every night you cried so hard your chest hurt, every time you felt abandoned or invisible. But hear me I've walked through some real fire, and I've seen others in their flames too. I’ve stood by people as they hit their personal Red Sea, and I’ve watched the Creator split it wide open at the last second. I've seen miracles show up wearing overalls and looking like messes at first glance.
I’m not just speaking theory. I’ve been out there observing, feeling, documenting. The Creator gave me the heart of an empath and the eye of a witness. I’ve seen breakdowns become breakthroughs. I’ve watched people who were flat on their faces rise with something golden in their spirit. I’ve been there myself.
Take David, for example before he was crowned, he was a fugitive, hiding in caves, running from Saul, feeling forgotten. Or Joseph betrayed by his own, sold off, thrown in jail, left in the dark. But every part of their story was preparing them for the next chapter. That’s how the Creator works. You’re not being punished you’re being prepared.
You’re being refined, like metal in fire. The loss, the struggle, the confusion it’s not senseless. It’s sacred. Even if you can’t see the pattern, there’s purpose in it. The doors that slam in your face? They’re divine reroutes. The people who leave? Sometimes, subtraction is protection.
And yes, sometimes you’ll feel completely alone. Like everyone went on vacation and forgot to send you a postcard. But solitude isn’t punishment it’s preparation. The Creator needs your full focus, your whole heart. He wants your trust, not just your comfort. Trust doesn’t grow when everything’s cozy it blooms in the unknown.
So hold on to your faith, even if it’s hanging by a thread. He’s not late He’s strategic. And the struggles? They’re not setbacks they’re training. If you can walk through this valley with even a sliver of trust, you’ll come out with the strength to carry what’s next.
And here’s the kicker when the blessing finally comes, it’s not just for show. You’ll be called to act, to step forward even when the fog hasn’t cleared. The Creator doesn’t bless hesitation He blesses obedience. So move, even if your knees are shaking. Walk, even if you don’t see the whole path. You’ll find that the strength shows up when you need it most.
Oh, and a little humor for your soul? Life’s like being in surgery sometimes. You're awake, wide-eyed, and the Creator is the surgeon telling you, “Hold still while I fix this mess.” And you’re like, “Doc, do you really have to use that scalpel?” But He’s got the chart, He’s done this before, and your job is to trust the process even if it feels like He’s operating without anesthesia.
Dear reader, let these words sit with you like warm soup on a cold day. Let them feed your heart. I bear witness from the depth of my own chaos and clarity the Creator will part your Red Sea. He did it for me, and I’ve seen Him do it for others. To those who feel like giving up, who want to fire the Creator because He’s not moving on your schedule, I say this: slow down. You’re not the one holding the blueprint.
I learned that the hard way. From two years before Hurricane Katrina till well into 2012, I went through what felt like a spiritual demolition. I prayed. I gave. I stayed kind. And yet, I struggled deeply. Before she passed in 2011, my mother said something to me I’ll never forget: “Son, you remind me of Job. The Creator must have something great for you. Keep your hands lifted, and don’t lose your faith.”
I didn’t always understand what she meant. But now? Now I do.
So if it feels like everything is falling apart, maybe just maybe it’s falling into place. Don’t cut the tree just because you’re tired of waiting on fruit. Don’t move without clarity. And above all, don’t lose your faith in the Master Gardener.
He's pruning you, shaping you, preparing you because something big is on the way.
