True Riches
By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar
They say, “Chase the fortune, build your empire high,”
But what good is the gold if your spirit runs dry?
The shine on your wrist, the glow of the fame,
Can’t thaw the chill of a heart gone tame.
You tally the cost of every fine thread,
But the weight of love? It’s left unsaid.
Rolling through the streets, head held proud,
Yet the bonds you broke whisper louder than the crowd.
We run after checks, but we misplace the beat,
Trading depth of soul for shallow retreat.
The math looks right, but it doesn’t compute,
What’s the point of the gain if the heart’s destitute?
The truest treasure isn’t found in gold or steel,
It’s in the arms that lift you when you can’t heal.
It’s the quiet presence that holds you near,
Not fleeting applause that fades like the years.
True, genuine love is a rare, priceless gift If you’re blessed to find it, let your spirit lift.
Grab hold of its light and never let go,
For love like this is life’s brightest glow.
So, before you chase what glitters and gleams,
Remember the ones who anchor your dreams.
For the brightest light isn’t in riches that gleam,
But in the love that flows like a timeless stream.
