The River of Forgiveness
By Kateb Shunnar
I once held grudges like stones in my hand,
Heavy reminders I could not withstand.
Each hurt and each anger, each silent despair,
Weighed down my spirit and clouded the air.
Then mercy arrived like a river so wide,
Its waters of grace flowing deep inside.
It whispered of healing, it shimmered with light,
Turning my darkness to courage and sight.
I knelt in prayer, my heart open and true,
Seeking the Creator’s forgiveness anew.
“I’ve stumbled, I’ve erred, I’ve caused pain untold,

Guide me in mercy, let my spirit unfold.”
I reached out to others with humble intent,
Apologies spoken, old wounds were unbent.
A bridge rebuilt, a friendship restored,
Releasing the grudges my heart had stored.
For one day I know I’ll stand face to face,
Before the Creator, His judgment and grace.
So I walk in the light, I balance my scales,
With truth as my compass, and love in my sails.
Forgiveness flows like a river, divine,
Washing the soul, letting the spirit shine.
Each act of compassion, each prayer I say,
Brightens my path and lights up my way.
So drop all your stones, let your burdens fall,
Open your heart and answer the call.
The river of grace will carry you through,
Filling your spirit with mercy anew.
