The Divine Mirror: A Reflection on Self-Worth and the Creator

The Divine Mirror: A Reflection on Self-Worth and the Creator

By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

In the quiet moments of introspection, when the hustle of the world fades into the background, we often find ourselves contemplating the essence of our being and our relationship with the Creator. It is in these moments that we may discover a profound truth: how we perceive the Creator is a direct reflection of how we perceive ourselves. This realization opens a doorway to understanding the depths of our self-worth and the divine connection that shapes our lives.

As a child, my grandmother was my guiding star in the vast universe of spiritual wisdom. Her teachings were simple yet profound, rooted in a deep understanding of the human soul and its connection to the divine. "Treat people and deal with situations the way you want your Creator to deal with you on the day your soul is weighed in the scales of judgment," she would often say. These words were more than advice; they were a compass guiding me through the complexities of life.

The Creator, in my grandmother's teachings, was not a distant, punitive figure but a mirror reflecting our inner world. If we look at the Creator and see fear and blame, it is because we harbor these emotions within ourselves. Conversely, if we see the Creator as an embodiment of love and compassion, it is because these qualities resonate within our own hearts. This mirror-like relationship invites us to look inward and examine the emotions and beliefs that shape our perception of the divine.

In a world that seems increasingly mad and broken, it is easy to be consumed by negativity. Anger, resentment, and indifference can cloud our vision, blinding us to the beauty within ourselves and others. We become so engrossed in the chaos that we forget to see the harmony, grace, and blessings that surround us. This spiritual blindness is a consequence of allowing the external world's madness to infiltrate our souls.

My grandmother's wisdom reminds us that to maintain our spiritual well-being, we must elevate our hearts and souls to the highest altitude, just as the eagle soars above the storms to avoid its predators. In nature, the eagle is a powerful symbol of strength, freedom, and transcendence. One of the most remarkable traits of the eagle is its ability to fly at high altitudes, far above the turbulence and threats below. The eagle flies higher not only to escape predators but also to gain a broader perspective of its surroundings. By soaring to great heights, it can see opportunities and dangers that are invisible from the ground.

This majestic flight of the eagle serves as a profound metaphor for our spiritual journey. Just as the eagle rises above the storms, we too must elevate our hearts and souls to navigate the chaos of the world. Flying higher means lifting our thoughts and actions above the pettiness and negativity that often dominate daily life. It means seeking a higher perspective where we can see the bigger picture and understand the interconnectedness of all things.

By soaring to these spiritual heights, we can avoid the traps of anger, fear, and blame that lie in wait below. Instead, we find clarity, wisdom, and a deeper connection to the divine. Elevating ourselves in this way allows us to maintain inner peace and remain aligned with our true values, regardless of external circumstances. Just as the eagle uses its elevated position to thrive, we too can use our higher perspective to cultivate love, compassion, and understanding in our lives.

In essence, flying higher is not just about escaping negativity; it is about embracing a vision that transcends the immediate and the mundane. It is about striving to see the world, ourselves, and the Creator from a vantage point of grace and insight. This elevated view helps us to recognize the divine in every aspect of existence and to reflect that divinity in our actions and interactions.

Personal reflection has shown me the transformative power of viewing the Creator through a lens of love and compassion. There were times in my life when fear and blame seemed to dominate my thoughts. During those periods, my perception of the Creator was shrouded in judgment and punishment. It was a reflection of my inner turmoil and self-doubt. However, as I began to cultivate love and compassion within myself, my perception of the Creator transformed. The divine presence became a source of comfort, guidance, and unconditional love, reflecting the positive changes within my own heart.

To my readers, I encourage a journey of exploration and discovery. Study the Creator through everything and everyone in the universe. The divine presence is not confined to a mosque, synagogue, or church; it permeates all of creation. Every interaction, every experience, and every moment offers an opportunity to glimpse the divine. When you seek the Creator, look within your heart, for it is there that the true abode of the divine resides.

The reflection on self-worth and the Creator invites us to engage in a continuous process of self-examination and spiritual growth. It challenges us to recognize and address the fear, blame, and negativity within us, replacing them with love, compassion, and positivity. By doing so, we not only transform our perception of the Creator but also elevate our own self-worth.

The world may be filled with brokenness and anger, but we have the power to rise above it. Just as the eagle soars high above the storms, we too can elevate our hearts and souls, maintaining a perspective that sees beauty, grace, and divine presence in all things. It is a conscious choice, a daily practice, and a lifelong journey.

In this journey, let us remember my grandmother's wisdom. Treat others and navigate life's challenges with the same love and compassion you wish to receive from the Creator. In doing so, you align yourself with the divine and reflect its qualities within yourself. The way we see the Creator is indeed a direct reflection of how we see ourselves, and by nurturing our inner world, we can transform our relationship with the divine and with each other.

May this reflection serve as a beacon of light, guiding you towards a deeper understanding of self-worth and a more profound connection with the Creator. Remember, the divine presence is always within you, waiting to be discovered in the depths of your heart.

Love you always Celstine(granny)
