Show Love to the Disenchanted

Show Love to the Disenchanted

By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

If you hate me, I will love you more,

like the sun that warms even the stone-hearted shore.

If you mock me, I will bring you water,

to clear your throat and soften your laughter.

If you stand in the rain and belittle my name,

I will send a stranger to shield you from pain.

If the cold seeps into your bones and you shiver,

I will wrap you in warmth, though you called me a giver of nothing.

If you become sick, frail, and weak,

I will kneel beside you, hear what you speak.

Not to remind you of the wounds you gave,

but to whisper grace so we both are saved.

For love is not a barter, a weight to be earned,

it flows like the rivers, expecting no return.

So I will love you, though you spit in my face,

I will love you, with an endless embrace.

Show love to the disenchanted,

for the bitter heart is still a garden,

waiting for the rain.
