Putting Our Dis-ease in Remission

By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

There’s a heaviness that creeps into our lives when we’re out of sync when the mind is tangled in doubt, the heart weighed down by bitterness, and the soul feels like it’s carrying bricks. It’s not always something we can put a finger on, but we know it’s there, gnawing at the edges of our peace. This, my dear reader, is what I call dis-ease. It’s not just sickness in the body; it’s a restlessness, a tension, a feeling of being out of alignment with something much greater than ourselves. But here’s the beautiful truth: the Creator is always there, reaching out with healing hands, ready to lift us out of that place if we let go and trust.

I’ve lived long enough to know that dis-ease doesn’t show up all at once. It builds over time, little by little. Maybe it starts with holding onto resentment because someone hurt you. Or maybe it’s fear fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of being unloved. It plants itself quietly, like weeds in a garden, and if you’re not careful, it spreads. Before you know it, it’s choking the life out of you. And yet, even in that overgrown mess, the Creator sees the beauty waiting underneath and patiently works to restore it.

I remember a time when I felt like I was unraveling. My mind was a storm, my heart a battlefield, and my soul felt like it was locked in a dark room. I sat under an old willow tree one afternoon, completely drained, and I heard this whisper not out loud, but deep inside me. It was as if the tree itself spoke, “You don’t have to carry this alone. Trust me.” Those words sank into me like water soaking parched earth. And from that moment, I started handing over the things I couldn’t carry. It didn’t all change overnight, but day by day, I felt the weight lifting, and I knew it was the Creator’s hands at work.

The thing about healing is, it doesn’t always look the way we expect. Sometimes we want a quick fix, a miracle that snaps everything into place. But the Creator doesn’t rush the process. Healing takes time, and it takes trust. It’s like mending a shattered vase piece by piece, every crack carefully tended to until it’s whole again. The scars may still show, but they become part of the story, a testament to what was broken but made beautiful.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that holding onto pain only keeps you stuck. Forgiveness, though it’s like opening a window in a stuffy room and letting fresh air in. It’s not easy; sometimes it feels downright impossible. But when you let go, you make room for peace. I’ve seen it happen in my own life, and I’ve seen it in others. There was a man I once knew who carried anger like it was his lifeline. It ate at him for years, even started to show up in his health. When he finally let it go, it was like watching a cloud lift off his shoulders. He said to me, “I didn’t realize how heavy it was until I put it down.”

The Creator’s hands are always ready to take what’s weighing us down, but we have to be willing to hand it over. That means showing up in prayer, in silence, in those moments where we stop running and just sit with our struggles. It means saying, “I can’t do this on my own,” and trusting that the One who made us knows exactly how to fix us. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being open open to grace, open to love, open to the idea that healing is possible even when it feels like nothing can help.

I think sometimes we underestimate the power of gratitude in this process. It’s hard to be thankful when life feels like it’s falling apart, but there’s always something to hold onto, even if it’s just the fact that you woke up today. Gratitude shifts the focus. It’s like turning a lamp on in a dark room suddenly, you see things differently. The Creator’s hands are always at work, even when we can’t see it, and gratitude helps us notice the fingerprints left behind.

Let me tell you something else: you don’t have to have it all figured out to start healing. It’s okay to feel broken. It’s okay to not know the answers. The Creator isn’t waiting for you to get your act together before stepping in. Those healing hands are already there, ready to pull you out of the mud and set you back on solid ground. All you have to do is reach out.

Healing isn’t just about fixing what’s wrong; it’s about growing into something stronger. It’s about learning to see yourself through the Creator’s eyes not as a mess, but as a masterpiece in progress. The cracks, the scars, the struggles they’re all part of your story, and they don’t make you less; they make you real.

So here’s what I want you to know: you are not alone in this. Whatever dis-ease you’re carrying whether it’s fear, anger, guilt, or something else entirely it doesn’t have to define you. The Creator’s hands are big enough to hold it all, gentle enough to soothe every hurt, and strong enough to carry what you can’t. Trust those hands. Let them work. And little by little, you’ll see the dis-ease start to fade, replaced by a peace you didn’t think was possible.

You are not beyond healing. You are not too far gone. The Creator sees you, knows you, and loves you more than you can imagine. And those hands the ones that shaped the stars, the oceans, and everything in between are reaching out to you now, ready to make you whole again. All you have to do is take them.
