Halftime in the Spirit:
A Reflection by Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar
Listen up.
Yeah we’re down by 21. The scoreboard don’t lie. But neither does the fight I see in your eyes. Some folks in the stands already gave up on us. Some are walking out, thinking it’s over. But we know better. You know better.
This is not the end. This is the moment we decide who we are.
This ain’t just a game it’s life. And life will hit you hard. Life will blindside you, bruise you, and bury you in doubt. But that’s when warriors are born. That’s when you rise, not because it’s easy, but because the fire in your soul refuses to let you stay down.
Let’s be real first half? We didn’t show up. Defense, we need to talk. You’re out there letting these receivers dance past you like it’s a Sunday stroll. They’re running the same basic routes slants, outs, comebacks and we’re still biting on every fake. Where’s the lockdown? Where’s the fire? I know it’s in you. I’ve seen it in you. You’ve got to tighten up and press in. Play with vision. Anticipate. Don’t react own that field.
And linebackers? It’s time to wrap up and finish. No more arm tackles. No more watching the play. You’ve got to swarm like your life depends on it, because spiritually it does. Every broken tackle is a missed opportunity to shift momentum.
And momentum wins wars.
Now offense don’t think I forgot you. You’ve got firepower. You’ve got vision. You’ve got the talent to run this game. But talent without heart is just potential.
And potential doesn’t put points on the board. You’re playing timid. You’re letting a basic defense rush you like they’re giants. But you’ve faced giants before and won.
The offensive line has to dig deep and protect like they’re shielding purpose. The quarterback? Wake up. Lead with clarity. Every throw is a testimony. Every run is a prayer answered through action.
You’ve got to stop letting fear call your plays.
You’ve been knocked down in life by critics, by doubt, by the weight of your own past mistakes. But you are not your failures. You are not what went wrong. You are a chosen one in the middle of the battlefield, and the Creator is calling this play. And guess what? It’s a comeback route.
The other team thinks they’ve won. That life has broken your back.
But what they didn’t count on was your faith. Your spirit. Your refusal to quit. They didn’t count on you remembering who you are in the locker room of reflection, in the mirror of divine truth.
So here's the deal: We step out there for the second half with our heads high, not because we’re proud, but because we’re powered by purpose.
We leave every excuse in this locker room. We walk back on that field like an army that’s already tasted the sting of battle but we’re still hungry for victory.
This is more than a comeback.
This is redemption.
This is what it means to fight back spiritually, mentally, emotionally with grit, prayer, focus, and fire.
And when that final whistle blows, let it be said we left nothing behind.
Now line up. Play like your calling depends on it.
Because it does.
