Dogs Don’t Bark at Parked Cars

Dogs Don’t Bark at Parked Cars

A Life Lesson Told with a Wink and a Word

by Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

Let me take you down a dusty road in a town where wisdom grew on front porches and people wore their stories like Sunday hats. Back then, when the world spun a little slower, and folks still listened to elders, there was a saying passed around like a borrowed Bible:

Dogs don’t bark at parked cars.

Now, at first, it might sound like nonsense. But hush up and listen close, because there’s gold in that gravel.

See, back in the day, there was a man named Mr. Otis. He didn’t have much money, but he had sense stacked higher than a preacher’s praise. Otis used to sit on his stoop every evening, watching the town go by with a cane in one hand and truth in the other. Whenever somebody came crying about folks talking behind their back, he’d nod slow and say:

You must be going somewhere only moving cars get barked at.

And Lord, wasn’t he right?

If you’ve ever chased a dream, made a change, spoke the truth, walked different, lived with purpose you’ve heard the barking. People criticizing you, throwing shade, calling you everything but what your Creator named you.

But guess what?

Nobody wastes breath on somebody stuck. Ain’t nobody gossipin’ about a rusted soul goin’ nowhere.

Proverb : A lion walking gets more noise than a lion sleeping.

So if folks got your name in their mouth, good. That means your life is louder than their lies. Keep walking.

But let me tell you this, too. Some of y’all stop your journey just to argue with the barking. Pull over to clap back. Waste precious energy explaining yourself to folks who never even read the manual to their own life.

Don’t do it.

Let 'em bark.

Because barking dogs don’t have the power to slow a moving car unless the car slams the brakes. Don’t give small minds front-row seats to your big mission.

Let me give you a quick parable:

There once was a traveler crossing through a noisy village. Every corner he turned, dogs barked loud and wild. Another man traveling the opposite way said, Why don’t you stop and quiet them?

The traveler smiled and said, “Because I’ve got somewhere to be and they’re just noise.”

Moral of the parable: The louder the bark, the closer you are to your blessing.

And here’s a little humor with a hook:

If nobody’s barking at you, you might need to check if you’re still in drive or if you’ve been sitting in neutral, windows up, watching life pass by.

Proverb: If they talk about you, let them talk loud enough that the heavens take notice.

So here’s your takeaway:

Stay in motion.

Don’t argue with barking.

Never slow down to explain your path to people who ain’t even laced their shoes.

And for heaven’s sake, don’t get out your car and wrestle with a mutt that don’t know its own direction.

Because dogs don’t bark at parked cars they only make noise when you’re moving toward purpose, power, and peace.

Keep driving.

Come back tomorrow for the audio....
