A Giver’s Warning
By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar
You are a giver, a beacon of grace,
Sharing your warmth in every space.
Your hands never tire, your heart never fades,
Always the anchor when others are swayed.
But tread with care, for takers lie deep,
A bottomless void where shadows creep.
Their thirst is unending, their reach knows no shore,
They’ll drain your essence and still ask for more.
Givers often forget they, too, need to mend,
For love drives their spirit to break and to bend.
Yet takers see only the yield of your palm,
Unmoved by the storm that disrupts your calm.
When givers and takers are bound in one tale,
One heart may shatter, while the other prevails.
For giving unchecked becomes a slow burn,
Leaving the giver with little return.
So guard your soul, let wisdom preside,
Don’t offer your light where darkness resides.
Seek a kindred soul who gives just like you,
A love that replenishes and sees you through.
