Worth the Wait

By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

Waiting on the Creator can feel like sitting on a quiet pier, staring at the horizon, wondering when the boat carrying your answers will appear. It’s not just about patience it’s about trust. And let’s be honest, trusting is tough when the silence stretches on and the clock keeps ticking.

In a world obsessed with speed, waiting feels like torture. We’re wired to believe that if something doesn’t happen right away, it’s a waste of time. It’s no wonder the idea of “divine delay” makes us so uneasy. We’re not just waiting; we’re wrestling with doubt, frustration, and the ever-nagging question: Why isn’t this happening yet?

Some people, often the ones who don’t have a deep connection with the Creator, are quick to ask:

Why are you still waiting? What’s the point? Haven’t you waited long enough?

It’s hard to answer them, especially when you don’t have clear evidence to show that your waiting isn’t in vain. And when we think the Creator is taking too long, we often make the mistake of trying to take the reins ourselves. That’s when things go sideways. We rush in, acting out of impatience, and usually end up creating more problems than we solve.

Let’s be real how much time do we actually give the Creator before we start questioning Him?

How long before we decide we’ve waited long enough and try to do it our own way?

Do we ever stop to consider that while we’re pacing back and forth, wondering if He’s forgotten us, He’s actually behind the scenes, working on something better than we could dream up?

It’s natural to feel restless in the waiting. Trust me, I’ve been there praying, hoping, watching others get their answers while I’m still holding on, wondering when my turn will come. And you know what? That restlessness can make you want to give up. But I’ve learned something: the Creator doesn’t make us wait to punish us. He’s preparing something so good, so right, that it’s worth every second of anticipation.

While I wait, I pray not just to ask for what I want, but to remind myself that the Creator sees me. I may not hear His voice in every moment, but I know He’s there, arranging the pieces in ways I can’t yet understand.

I’ve also learned not to get caught up in the comparison game. You know how it goes you see someone else getting what you’ve been praying for, and it stings. But here’s the thing: their journey isn’t yours. Their table isn’t your table. And just because their blessings are arriving sooner doesn’t mean you’ve been overlooked. The Creator is setting up something specific for you, something that fits your needs, your purpose, your unique life.

It’s like waiting at a restaurant when you’re part of a big group. You watch smaller parties get seated quickly while you’re still standing there, hungry and impatient. But what you don’t see is that the staff is setting up a table that’s perfect for you and everyone with you. The wait feels endless, but when you finally sit down, it all makes sense.

This waiting game isn’t easy. It’s frustrating and humbling. But I’ve learned to lean into it. Instead of focusing on what I don’t have, I try to focus on what the Creator is doing. Even when I can’t see it, I believe He’s working things out for my good.

So, what do I do while I wait?

I pray like my life depends on it.

I trust, even when it feels like blind faith.

And I remind myself, over and over, that the Creator’s delays aren’t denials they’re opportunities for something better.

Waiting isn’t wasted time. It’s preparation. And when the time finally comes, when the Creator’s plan unfolds, it’ll all be worth it. The table He’s setting for me will be overflowing with blessings, grace, and abundance, crafted just for me.

Author’s Note

By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

This reflection comes from a deeply personal place, shaped by those stretches of life where everything seems to hit pause. Those times can be downright maddening. We’re wired to move, to fix, to push forward and when we can’t? It feels like the world is passing us by.

I’ve had my fair share of moments where I tried to take shortcuts, thinking I could outrun the Creator’s timing. Spoiler alert: I couldn’t. What I learned, sometimes the hard way, is that these waiting seasons aren’t about holding us back. They’re about preparing us, teaching us patience, and giving us space to grow in ways we’d never choose for ourselves.

Let’s be real waiting isn’t fun. It’s frustrating, it’s humbling, and it can leave you second-guessing everything. But here’s the thing: while we’re sitting there, wondering if anything is happening, the Creator is in the background, piecing together something far better than we could’ve imagined.

If you’re in that space right now feeling stuck, forgotten, or restless I hope these words help you find some peace in the pause. Know that every delay has a purpose, even if you can’t see it yet. Hang in there; the wait will be worth it.

Gratefully,
